The War in Iraq

I believe the war in Iraq was a just cause.  Many people seem to forget that Saddam Hussein gassed many thousands of his own people.  For anybody who says that it wasn’t our fight, decency suggests that we should’ve anyways.  Edmund Burke, an Irish statesman from the 18th century, once said, “all that is neccesary for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.”  The most honorable thing a man can do is give his life to save someone else’s.

The second reason for the invasion of Iraq is the fact that whether or not Saddam had weapons of mass destruction, he didn’t allow UN weapons inspectors into certain areas until many trucks could go in and out of those sites unchecked.  That of course rose suspicions from many people, including President Bush and many other people.

Now for reasons to stay in Iraq.  The first one is the fact that Iran, as we all know, is a little bit whack.  We can’t exactly tell what they’re going to do next.  From a tactical standpoint our occupation of both Iraq and Afghanistan is a tactical advantage.  When you look at a map, you can see that Iran is right in between Iraq and Afghanistan, so if Iran ever gets too far out of check, we can be right there to straighten them out.

Second reason to stay in Iraq.  If we leave now using the 16-month withdrawal plan, the last few months will have the lowest US and Iraqi troop presence, and Al-Qaeda will massacre our troops, or the Iraqi troops, or even the Iraqi civilians.

The last arguement is best explained by someone who has been there.

Any intelligent arguement is appreciated.
